В охране реки Белой проблема номер 1 – продолжение советского еще строительства Юмагузинского водохранилища. Данный объект превратил 24-километровый участок водоема, а также прилегающие к нему 46 километров в стоячее болото (уровень подъема воды в результате строительства дамбы изменен уже на 60 метров). Экологи уже зафиксировали влияние на состав флоры и фауны национального парка «Башкирия».

Ибо на этот раз от нарушения природного равновесия страдают уже не только звери, но и люди. Вода верхнего и среднего течений признана после анализа загрязненной. Лишь в низовьях (прямо от границы со средним участком) она «умеренно» загрязненная. Это доказывают не только лабораторные пробы, но и наличие большого количества рыбы и животных. В зоне стариц вода быстро восстанавливается, фильтруясь на торфяных болотах.

Акции молодежных и политических организаций, а также городские субботники позволяют избавить от мусора лишь крупицы подверженных опасности берегов. Заявления активистов и протоколы инспекторов Минприроды рассматривает прокуратура обеих автономий. Но дело двигается с точки крайне медленно.
